Sound of Thunder 2024

Another successful Sound of Thunder. Pole position, 2 race wins and overall winner in the SuperStock Open class.

Race one: I lead from start to finish and took the chequer with quite a comfortable margin. I had to work a bit harder in race 2 though with a poor start leaving me existing turn one in 3rd. Halfway round lap one I made an infield pass to take P2. With clear track in front I put my head down and got on to the back of Chris on the M1100RS #3. Carrying a lot more speed out of the last corner on lap 3 allowed a pass down the straight and in to the lead. I kept a good pace for the last 2 laps but could feel the front tyre was past its best. Last corner last lap I had the front sliding onto the straight and thought 'shit not now' but held it together and took the win.

A great weekend for the Mecanica team with Chris 2nd overall and Dennis on his Mecanica built 900 SS 3rd. Mike on the M1100-R24 got down to a respectable 1:44 and placed 5th in race 2. Steve, Damo and Andy also did well which saw Mecanica bikes take the first 6 places in race 2 and 8 out of the top 9.
